This driver manual documents the functionality present in the MacroView metaimg communications driver. The name metaimg is pronounced "Meta Image" and is derived from its relationship to the MacroView MetaServer protocol. This protocol allows client applications to interact with a MacroView server with respect to entity.attribute real time value access, trend and history data access, metascript execution support and general file/directory access. The metaimg driver uses the entity.attribute portion of the protocol to transfer real time value information from a remote system to a MacroView system.
The remote system can be another MacroView or an OPC Metabridge based system. The OPC Metabridge functionality presents an OPC Server's data using the MetaServer protocol. Refer to the OPC Metabridge document for more information on the use and setup of that OPC related functionality. As far as a metaimg driver is concerned, the remote system is just a source of entity.attribute value information and is unaware that the source of that data is an OPC server or a MacroView system.
